Today I finished reading the book of Joshua, the account of the Lord bringing Israel into the Promised Land. This book is an amazing fulfillment of some the promises the Lord gave in the first 5 books of the Bible. The Lord even promises that is how He acts, "Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you." (Joshua 3:5) The grace of God is seen in the story of Rahab, even though she was a harlot living in the town of Jericho, she was saved with her family and given a place among the people of God, she is even given a place in the genealogy of King David and Jesus Christ!
The faithfulness of God is a theme repeated often in the Scriptures. Joshua 21:43-45 and Joshua 23:14-16 both refer to God fulfilling His Word. "So the LORD gave Israel all the land He had sworn to give their forefathers, and they took possession of it and settled there. The LORD gave them rest on every side, just as He had sworn to their forefathers. Not one of their enemies withstood them; the LORD handed all their enemies over to them. Not one of all the LORD's good promises to the house of Israel failed; every one was fulfilled." Joshua 21:43-45 God kept His Word! He was faithful to keep His Covenant with Israel! He will continue to be faithful to keep His promises! He was faithful to send His Son, the Messiah! He was faithful to build His church, just as He promised! He will be faithful to all His promises in the future! We have a truly amazingly faithful God!
