“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. ~ Matthew 5:14-16 ~

Leviticus
I recently finished reading the book of Leviticus. Reading through the requirements for all the offerings reminds me how grateful I am that Christ is the ultimate sacrifice. His blood is the covering for our sin. The reoccurring theme throughout the book of Leviticus is the holiness of the Lord. He calls us to be holy, because He is holy. This statement is quoted in 1 Peter 1:15-16. God calls us a believers to be holy because He is perfectly holy. This, of course, would be impossible, except for the fact that we are considered holy to God through the death of Jesus. Jesus Christ took our punishment for us so that we could be counted holy in God's sight and could draw near to worship Him. Throughout Leviticus the Lord makes it clear that there is no sacrifice for sins and no forgiveness without the shedding of blood. Hebrews 9:22 restates this fact that the law required everything to be cleansed. But Christ is the purest sacrifice. His blood is truly a cleansing fountain. He fulfilled the law by His death and resurrection! (Matthew 5:17-18). He is our true High Priest who is seated on David's throne at the right hand of God!
